Welcome to The Express Beginners Wine Masterclass
A concise, confidence-building introduction to wine with clear, practical guidance.
If you’d like a clear, enjoyable introduction to wine without the time commitment of a full afternoon, this short masterclass is the ideal starting point. It gives you practical skills, genuine tasting confidence and a solid foundation for your wine journey with The London Wine Academy.
You’ll taste a range of wines blind, learn to recognise quality for yourself and understand the key factors that shape flavour. The session is focused, engaging and expertly guided — with everything you learn being immediately useful when choosing wine in shops, restaurants or at home.
What will I learn during the Express Beginners Wine Masterclass?
You’ll learn the Systematic Approach to Tasting in a clear, practical way — focusing on flavour, structure and genuine quality rather than labels. You’ll taste a mix of classic Old World and New World styles, using blind tasting to understand how grape variety, climate and winemaking create distinct flavour profiles.
You’ll also start to recognise the styles you naturally enjoy, understand the key factors that shape each wine, and pick up straightforward guidance for choosing wine in shops and restaurants. Your tutor will share simple food-pairing principles and the small cues professionals use every day — giving you practical confidence you can use straight away.
